Huston-Tillotson University: This university is one of the institutions in the United States that were intended for African-American students only. Three organizations are affiliated to the university, such as the United Church of Christ, United Methodist Church and the United Negro College Fund. Formerly known as the Huston-Tillotson College, the institution changed it name in 2005.

St. Edwards University: The primary recognizable facility of this university in Lady Bird Lake, Austin, is the Main Building. The campus has a very picturesque appeal as it offers an overlooking view of the city. St. Edwards is relatively smaller than other universities. Liberal arts courses are offered by this private university to Roman Catholics.

LeTourneau University. The main campus of this university is in Longview, Texas, but there are educational centers around Texas. Engineering, education, business and aeronautical science courses are offered in Longview, while business programs are offered in Austin. The university is founded by R. G. LeTourneau in 1946.
